Product Process and Application
Sediment
Reduce turbidity and sediment with specially graded filtration media. Particles as small as 20 micron in size are efficiently removed. Automatic back washing removes the trapped particles, keeping the media clean.
Taste and Odor
Our granular activated carbon media is manufactured from our own special grade of activated carbon providing high capacity adsorption of tastes, odors and free chlorine. Color and dissolved organics can also be effectively removed with activated carbon.
Acid Neutralizing
For corrosive water due to low pH, RainSoft’s neutralizing media is an effective method of elevating the pH to an acceptable level. This media is sacrificial, dissolving into the water on contact. Periodic back washing insures that the media bed does not compact. This automatic filter may eliminate the need for inconvenient chemical feed systems.
Iron, Manganese and Hydrogen Sulfide
Manganese treated greens and media is designed to reduce iron and manganese that cause stains on dishes, fabrics and fixtures. These filters can also remove small amounts of hydrogen sulfide that causes the telltale “rotten egg”odor in water. In operation, the media is regenerated with a weak potassium per manganate solution giving it excellent oxidative properties. Then as iron, manganese and hydrogen sulfide come in contact with the media, they are converted from dissolved to precipitated (suspended) particles easily trapped and filtered out. Backwash at a preset time interval or in electronically metered models after predetermined gallon usage removes the trapped precipitated material.
