RO Systems
Reverse Osmosis is a water purification system process that pushes water through a semi-permeable membrane to remove very small contaminants- down to the molecular level.
RO systems are known for removing a wide range of contaminants, including:

Yes. Activated carbon filtration is recommended by the EPA for use in municipal water treatment plants.
Softeners
Hardness in water is primarily caused by dissolved minerals, mainly calcium and magnesium. Its measured in parts per million (PPM).
Hard water can lead to Scale buildup in pipes and appliances, reducing efficiency. It can affect soap and detergent effectiveness, requiring more for cleaning.
Hardness is removed by a process called "ion exchange". Hardness- causing particles and debris are positively charged. The water runs through RainSoft' s resin system, which has millions of negatively charged sites. As the water flows past these sites, calcium, iron and magnesium attach to the sites and are "bumped off"
Very little, thanks to RainSoft' s patented regeneration system. In most cases, you'll find less sodium in a glass of RainSoft water than a slice of white bread. If your doctor recommends a sodium-free diet, RainSoft' s reverse osmosis water system can reduce the total sodium content to near zero
Yes, we do not ever recommend using soft water on the plants due to the salt content (minimal but still there). To avoid this being an issue, we can install a hose bib on the plumbing from the raw water source, or you can use the convenient bypass handles on the system, to ensure you and your plants are safe.
